Kid's Day: Snow Goose Spotting
Kids ages 8 years and older with an adult may enjoy learning about the snow goose—how to identify one of the birds, its habitat requirements, migration patterns, its sounds and calls, and other wild facts. Participants will have the opportunity to climb the observation tower overlooking Chautauqua Lake to possibly see thousands of snow geese. Kids will be able to make-n-take home their own snow goose decoy. This program will be held at Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters. Participants should dress appropriately for the outdoors. Registration is required by Wednesday, February 21st. Call 309-535-2290 or email illinoisriver@fws.gov to register or for more information. This program is sponsored by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services-Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge and Illinois State Museum-Dickson Mounds.
