PRIMARY FUNCTION:  

The Healthcare Career Program Coordinator oversees the general operations of the Healthcare Careers Programs within the Career and Technical Education Department. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  1. Initiates and participates in program reviews and annual assessment activities of the Healthcare Careers programs and Allied Health (AH) courses, Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) courses and Fire Science (FS) courses and reports results to the Dean of Career and Workforce Education. 
  2. Assists with the initiation and development of new courses and programs and the revision of same within the Healthcare Careers program.
  3. Ensures compliance with accrediting agencies to ensure quality and integrity of the designated Healthcare Careers program. 
  4. Stays educated on the workforce and credential needs of the Healthcare industry. 
  5. Assists the Dean of Career and Workforce Education with the recruitment and selection of part-time faculty within the Healthcare Careers program. 
  6. Coordinates and oversees all clinical affiliation agreements with local healthcare facilities for all healthcare careers programs.
  7. Works with other colleges and educational institutions to maintain and establish cooperative agreements and other agreements in regards to general education course requirements for programs where students are completing some courses at SRC and some courses at the other institution.
  8. Coordinates and instructs the Supervised Coop/Internship course. This includes assisting students in finding an internship site and working with them throughout the semester to complete their internship hours and required paperwork. 
  9. Advises Healthcare Career Program students in all phases of the program.
  10. Recruits students in conjunction with the enrollment services office, which includes initiating correspondences to prospective students and developing advertising. 
  11. Seeks opportunities to market the designated Healthcare Careers program to individuals, groups, and industry leaders. 
  12. Assists the Dean of Career and Workforce Education with all contracts or agreements with other Colleges in regards to cooperative agreements for healthcare career programs that we do not currently offer.
  13. Recommends an annual instructional schedule for courses within the Healthcare Careers Programs.
  14. Adopts all textbooks and/or e-books to be used for courses within the Healthcare Careers program, and coordinates all information regarding textbooks or e-books with SRC instructors. 
  15. Works with SRC instructors and the Dean of Career and Workforce Education to purchase equipment and supplies for AH, MLT and FS courses.
  16. Assists the Dean of Career and Workforce Education with the coordination, preparation and utilization of the departmental budget. 
  17. Assists the Dean of Career and Workforce Education and the CTE Grant and Program Manager with the planning, implementation, coordination and overall management of any and all grants that can be used for healthcare programs.
  18. Assists with the organization of the Healthcare Occupations Advisory Committee and participates and attends all meetings.
  19. Assists the Dean of Career and Workforce Education with meeting with faculty within the Healthcare Careers Programs to review needs, goals and issues. 
  20. In cooperation with all other CTE staff and faculty, assists with recruitment efforts, by organizing, planning and/or assisting with high school classroom visits, high school and college career fairs, high school counselor visits, college visit days, CTE showcase days and any other scheduled events.
  21. Assists in the evaluation and revision of all policies and procedures related to the Healthcare Careers program. 
  22. Observes, supports, and enforces the policies of the College.
  23. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  1. An Associate’s degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. A bachelor’s degree preferred. A combination of education and work experience may substitute for required degree (five years related work experience for each degree level).
  2. Two years related work experience in the healthcare industry required.
  3. Experience using Microsoft applications with a high degree of accuracy and personal computer skills is required.
  4. Community college or training experience is preferred.
  5. Must possess the ability to work independently with a high level of initiative.
  6. Must possess a high level of confidentiality.
  7. Must possess organizational abilities, superior interpersonal skills, client service skills, and oral, and written communication skills.
  8. Must possess the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities; deal with conflict appropriately; withstand pressure and remain calm in tense situations, accurate; flexible; dependable; responsible; promote teamwork; and demonstrate a positive attitude.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

Physical demands for this position include the ability to regularly sit, use hands and fingers, talk and hear.  This position requires some standing, walking, reaching, stooping / kneeling, and climbing.  Vision requirements for this position include close vision including the ability to view text from a computer monitor.

 

Work environment for this position includes typical office environment with no extremes in temperature, noise, and limited physical risk.
