Assistant Director
The Canton Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a part time Assistant Director.
Hours: Part-Time; Based on a 30 hour week
Additional hours/days as job requires
Salary Range: $15-$20 per hour
Based on experience
Position reports to: Executive Director
Duties and Responsibilities:
OFFICE-CLERICAL:
- Greet visitors to the Chamber Office in a courteous and professional manner and direct them to the appropriate staff person.
- Maintain accurate and organized document management system in Chamber Master, including up-to-date membership records, business directory. Create and maintain weekly e-community updates through Constant Contact.
- Maintain, monitor, and update communication activities including website and social media channels.
- Maintain day-to-day financial records – invoicing, receiving payments, depositing.
- Processes all financials in Quick Books and prepare monthly financial report
- Creating event flyers, programs, brochures, & marketing materials
BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
- Prepare, update, and send monthly board packets and agendas.
- Prepare materials as requested by Executive Director.
- Attends monthly board meetings and records minutes.
COMMITTEES:
- Assist committees as requested.
- Participate in general meetings as requested
CHAMBER EVENTS:
- Participates in chamber activities to promote and enhance the image and relationship of the chamber with all groups and parties in the community. Could include weekends.
- Coordinates registration for special events. Work with sponsors and vendors for appropriate events.
- Help design marketing for various publications and programs for various Chamber events including ads, packets and letters
- Assist with taking photos at events as they occur throughout the year
- Maintain a positive relationship with all members and assist with growth opportunities, education, and/or mentoring.
- Prepare annual membership renewal packet information and assembles new
- Facilitates new memberships and assists in retention efforts through the collection of past due memberships.
- Familiarity of Chamber member businesses to assist the public
COMMUNITY:
- Serve as a positive liaison between the Chamber and the community.
- Remain informed of all Chamber and community-related events.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates degree preferred and/or relevant experience
- Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, Quick Books, In Design, Adobe Photoshop, PowerPoint, and Social Networks)
- Graphic Design & QuickBooks knowledge encouraged
- Time management skills in organizing projects and establishing priorities in managing workload, including problem solving skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, including editing written materials.
- Ability to work well with Board of Directors, Chamber members, and general public
- Ability to work well with staff and volunteers
- Ability to maintain professional appearance and attitude
- Two (2) years’ experience in a position performing clerical and communications duties preferred.
