PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Food Services Attendant prepares and serves food to the SRC food service area patrons.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares and serves food with the guidance and assistance of the Food Services Assistant.
2. Assists with the development of menus and food offerings that appeal to patrons.
3. Maintains an ample supply of prepared food during the serving hours.
4. Prepares special event menus and food service items per the request of college staff and faculty.
5. Prepares menu items and salad bar items for the Food Service areas.
6. Assists with the clean-up of the Food Service areas on a daily basis.
7. Provides assistance in the bookstore on an as-needed basis.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

1. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
2. Ability to work ad hoc hours to cover food preparation, delivery, and clean-up of special events is required.
3. One year of related experience is preferred.
4. Certification by the State of Illinois in Food Safety Management is required within 90 days of employment.
5. Competence in accounting and mathematics is required, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and count units of money.
6. Must possess a high level of confidentiality and accuracy. Must possess the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities; deal with conflict appropriately; withstand pressure and remain calm in tense situations. Must possess problem solving skills, flexibility, dependability, and responsibility. Must possess the ability to work in a team centered environment and demonstrate a positive attitude.
7. Must possess organizational abilities, superior interpersonal skills and client service skills, and verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak before groups.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Physical demands for this position include the ability to stand, walk, reach, use hands and fingers, and talk / hear for extended periods of time. This position requires limited stooping / kneeling. This position requires the ability to lift and/or carry weight up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance. Vision requirements include the ability to view and read instructions and cash register.
The work environment for this position includes humid conditions (non-weather related) and other extremes in temperature due to working near fryers, freezer, etc. Potential physical risk related to cuts and burns. Noise levels are moderate.
